Skylark EDI is an open-source middleware application designed to assist in the automation of business processes, particularly those related to Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). It does not stand alone but uses the open-source Joomla content-management system as a framework and as a means of providing a consistent and secure user interface. It is highly modular and can be configured to meet a wide range of business process requirements. Configuration consists of selecting and if necessary installing the appropriate modules, then setting those modules up by entering specific parameters to tailor the system to the tasks at hand.
