Note : To use the component, add it to a menu with the access for registered users or public users (Link – Component entry type), called for example “utChat”. 

Keep your chat completely private or join chat network of over 17 thousand websites and more then 145 thousand chatters (fully integrated with your database).

Things to consider before you select chat application or shoutbox for your website:

1. If your website is on shared server, this server will most probably have problems handling chat traffic because of limited hardware resources (on top of it see 3.).
2. If your website is on dedicated server but has limited memory and/or has only standard apache/mysql installation, it might have problems handling traffic (on top of it see 3.).
3. If server is not properly configured, high traffic can bring server to halt/crash (usual case for basic apache/mysql configuration when running out of resources).
4. If your chat application code and queries are not optimized, chat can require 5-10 times more server resources then necessary.
5. If your server internet connection is slow (or has too many hubs on the way) then all responses are slow and that is not suitable for chat application.
6. Problems can be visible sometimes with as little as 10 chatters, depends on server hardware/software configuration, current server load, chat/shoutbox refresh rate.
7. Chat will use your bandwidth, so consider your limitations there.
8. Your shoutbox is running fine so far? Refresh every 4 seconds? Is it much better then chat? When your visitors volume increases, see 3.

BlastChat client 2.2 is AJAX based standard Joomla and Mambo component, which will provide chat solution to your website. This client will communicate with BlastChat server (not using your bandwidth, not using your server's resources) and utilize BlastChat fast internet connection to allow responsive chatting experience. BlastChat client can be accompanied by BlastChat module 2.2 which in general combines whoisonline with whoischatting with link_to_profile and has dynamic update capabilities.

BlastChat client is implemented in html, php and javascript using http and https protocols, which means that your visitors only need to chat is to have basic access to internet (if behing firewalls or proxies they do not need special ports open) and any internet browser (we try to make it cross-browser compliant).

Tested using FireFox 2.0.0.1, FireFox 1.0.7, IE 6.x, IE 7 beta, Opera 8.x, Opera 9.x, Mozilla 1.7.12, Netscape 8.1. If you experience visual problems using these browsers it is most probably caused by your template's CSS definitions.

(You can still make access to your rooms for members only by disabling guest access in room configuration)

Insert in the forms the width and height of the Google talk module.

Select the Pages where you want the module to be and you are done. 

Chat component with REAL moderation, this is, question filtering and approval. Useful for conferencing, e-learning sites, or any other chat application where you have a live guest who is answering questions, or if you need an editor when receiving real time questions/comments from your users. Chatango is a free service that enables you to put a chat box into any almost web page, so that your visitors can chat with you without leaving your page. This module displays the live chat box with configurable options. You need to sign up for your free account at Chatango to use this. The options are: 1. Username 2. Width 3. Height 4. Font size 5. Gabbly is a chat service that allows you to chat around any webpage. It's free to use on your personal page or commercial webpage. The module allows you to embed Gabbly into a Joomla site or launch Gabbly by clicking on the link... Set the width & height of the module 

This is a very simple module that shows the names of anyone in FlashChat on your site using their Joomla username. Guests or chatters that are not registered in Joomla are not supported at this time. 

This is an Extension Specific AJAX Plugin for AVChat . This simple AJAX module checks the "who's chatting" file of AVChat component, and displays the user information available in that file.
The module being an AJAX module, the administrators and visitors can see who are in the chat rooms without the need to refresh their pages or being in the rooms. 

This module uses the same code on www.needhim.org.

It links to an online chat applet for people to chat with people from the Need Him Organization about Jesus and Knowing God Personally.

It automatically changes to a Email Picture if no one is on.

It also has an extra picture on top, with the toll free number for need him, and linking to 4 laws which are the basics of Christianity, again on the need him website.

Should work fine with all joomla versions.
